1979 ROLEX OYSTER COSMOGRAPH PAUL NEWMAN ^BIG RED^ DAYTONA REF:6263

Rolex historian, John Brozek once asked Paul Newman in an interview with him: Where and when he got his first Rolex Daytona? Paul Newman said that his first Daytona was a black dial 6263 given to him as a gift by his wife, Joanne Woodard in 1972, the year he started his professional racing career. This watch model itself is very very hard to lay your hands on. One with original box, instruction papers, original strap and buckle is any collector's dream come true.

In order not to add salt onto the wound of those of you who missed it, I will not elaborate more and will just let the pictures do the talking.....but ....but I can't resist to reiterate that the watch's condition is the best I have seen of this model and the original box and papers are just so lovely to have. Have seen these papers before?

Now you can make use of the Lunar Time, the Moon dial etc to know the major and Minor Feeding periods of Fish, Birds, other wildlife as well as the Semi-Diurnal High and Low Tides...............and it is esthetically so charming !!!!!!!!!!!!

EXTREMELY RARE CARTIER 18K YELLOW GOLD 2 REGISTERS CHRONOGRAPH
+ BOX + BUCKLE Circa 1953

This is an EXTREMELY RARE CARTIER 18K Solid Gold 2 registers 38mm chronograph Circa 1953. IN ALL ORIGINAL CONDITION. This rare Cartier classic timepiece was one of the exotic designs created by Jean Jacque Cartier when he headed Cartier London starting from 1945. Made in collaboration with either Jaeger LeCoultre or Movado with their provenances identified by the special double sets of matching reference numbers engraved both inside the case back and underneath the watch lugs. Search the internet & you would probably only find ONE other piece of this rare early Cartier chronographs available for sale.

D/ 100% Original dial with beautiful vintage patina. Original hands set. C/ The original 18k solid yellow gold case with a diameter of 38mm is considered BIG in the 1950s. Matching double sets of reference numbers on the case back & watch lugs. An unique & known way of identifying Cartier's collaborations with other watchmakers. M/ Original Mechanical winding movement has just been professionally serviced & timed.

Presented in a beautiful vintage double-door cabinet style brown leather box & vintage Cartier buckle. The equally rare bronze jewelry box from 1880 shown in the pictures is NOT included though.

Introduced in the early 1950's, the Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarers included a unique feature - a tide indication with special register at 9:00 on the dial showing when high and low tides will occur.

D/ 100% Original dial with colorful registers. Original blued steel dauphine hands. C/ Huge Original stainless steel screw-back case measuring approx 38mm excluding crown and approx. 44 mm from lug to lug. Original HEUER signed crown and pushers. The pusher on at 9:00 is used to set the disc for the correct high /low tide times in a particular location. M/ Original mechanical winding movement keeps accurate time. All chronograph functions work perfectly.

A similar model was sold for $32,500 on 6 December 2016 at Christie’s in New York

1919 saw their first chronograph for the wrist. This single-button model developed throughout the roaring twenties as the flagship model of the aspiring brand.In 1930, Eberhard & Co. Iaunched its first wristwatch with automatic winding. The 1930s saw Eberhard & Co. as suppliers to the royal Italian navy. In 1935, the brand introduced its first two-button chronograph that enabled repeated stops and starts, and in 1938 chronographs with 30-minute and 12-hour elapsed-time counters, LIKE THIS ONE, were available.

This is a very rare and highly sought after vintage Valjoux 723(a.k.a 72C) HEUER CARRERA 12 DATO REF:2547S Tripledate/calendar chronograph Circa 1964.

C/ Housed in a very good ORIGINAL UNPOLISHED condition FULL Stainless Steel Original case with snapback. The LARGE Case measures 36mm excluding crown, 39 including and 42mm from lug to lug. Original Heuer signed crown and original round water proof pushers. D/ ORIGINAL silvered dial with 30 minute, 12 hour and subsidiary second registers. Apertures for Day and Month, outer Date Graduation with applied Steel Markers. The dial is in EXCELLENT Condition with ONLY VERY VERY Light signs of wear. All details are fully legible and clear as can be seen from the pictures. Original luminous steel hands with original date pointer with blue Crescent tip. A historical HEUER complicated Moonphase chronograph to mark its 125th Anniversary.
D/ 100% original and MINT Condition beautiful silver dial with black ART DECO numerals signed ED HEUER & CIE, SWISS. Red tachymeter. There are 7 ORIGINAL BLUED STEEL hands altogether on this complicated timepiece. The register at 12:00 is the moonphase plus date disc, the one at 9:00 for the subsidiary second hand, 30 minute register at 3:00 and 12 hour register at 6:00. The 4 registers are framed with gold ring to give them contrast to the pearly white silver dial. The Moonphase/date disc is intentionally enlarged to give the owner an easy reading of the date of the day as this is probably the most used function on a daily basis. C/ Housed in its original gold-filled top case (with light signs of wear) with stainless steel back case measuring 34mm excluding crown, 37mm including and 41mm from lug to lug. **Enameling is a unique genre of the fine arts. It begins when a special vitreous material is melted in a kiln at a temperature of circa 1,200 degree Celsius, followed by cold shock procedure called quenching before it is mixed with fine enamel powder and applied evenly onto a thoroughly cleaned metal substrate. Afterwards, the object is fired in a special kiln at temperatures ranging between 800 and 900 degree Celsius. Enamel's peculiar vulnerability to flaws at this phase in the work results from the surface tensions which arise during this stage of the manufacturing process. ALL THESE WERE DONE BY HAND !! Considering the extraordinary high percentage of imperfect specimens which emerge from the kiln, it is little wonder that enamel dials are comparatively costly and that watches equipped with such dials, especially those with PERFECT DIALS are precious rarities.

The world's FIRST AUTOMATIC chronograph.produced by Zenith in their close race with the Buren Group (Heuer, Breitling, Hamilton and Buren) to create and market the world's first automatic chronograph. A true piece of chronograph history. Circa 1969/71.

D/ Original dial in VERY VERY GOOD condition. With luminous markers, aperture for DATE at 4.30 o'clock position. Luminous hands. I personally fancy the red chrono flyback hand. C/ Original tonneau shaped case Diam. 37 mm excluding crown, 40mm including, lug to lug 42mm.Original Zenith crown with its famous STAR logo. Outer case back with a large logo and inner case back signed as well. M/ Thirty-One jewel automatic column wheel chronograph movement fully signed and marked 3019 PHC with the rotor marked ‘Zenith 31 jewels Swiss Made’.

PONTIAC FLEXI LUGS CHORNOGRAPH
VERY NICE ORIGINAL DIAL, 1940s

A very unusual & rare flexi lugs chronograph by PONTIAC with beautiful original dial with nice details. 1940s. Looks like an old Minerva chronograph (see last pic) with similar case design that I have been hunting for years with no avail.

D/ Original grey dial with bronze TELEMETRE details around the edge of the dial. 2 registers with luminous markers and original hands set. C/ Original stainless steel snap back case with flexi lugs. Reminds me of an old Minerva chronograph with similar case design (See last picture). Case measures 33mm excluding crown, 35mm including & 50, yes 50mm from lug to lug!!!! M/ 17 jewels mechanical winding movement keeps accurate time & all chronograph functions work properly.

Highly Collectible Rare Zenith EL PRIMERO Pilot Chronograph, Circa 1975. As you are aware, EL Primero is one of the movements used by ROLEX on its bestseller, the DAYTONA chronographs. Rolex has done the evaluation and adopted this movement, it is a true testament to its quality!

D/ 100% original beautiful matt BLUE dial signed "ZENITH Automatic El Primero, SWISS MADE". Applied outer Tachymetre scale with raised hour markers, raised Zenith logo, three framed sub dials, and original sapphire crystal. 3 registers - subsidiary seconds at 9:00, 30 minutes counter at 3:00 and 12 HOURS counter at 6:00. Date window between 4:00 and 5:00 position. Original hands set. Original crown with Zenith logo. Original crystal with light signs of wear. C/ EXTRA LARGE AND HEAVY FULL Stainless steel WATER RESISTANT Original case in GOOD condition, with light signs of wear. Original Steel Screw back waterproof case is signed with its logo, BREVET + 487449, P I 6734, 2-72. Huge case Measuring 44mm excluding crown, 47mm including and 42mm from lug to lug. Original ZENITH signed crown. Outer rotatable bezel with light signs of wear. M/ 100% original Extremely High Grade 31 jewels Legendary ZENITH SWISS MADE 3019 PHC automatic movement in very clean condition. It runs strong, keeps accurate time, all chronograph functions in good working order, all chronograph hands return to 0. Chronograph pushers start, stop and reset perfectly.

Fitted with its 100% original HEAVY and THICK stainless steel bracelet signed with ZENITH logo at its clasp, original to the watch.

Complicated Universal Geneve Aero-Compax. Triple Register Chronograph with Memento Register.

D/ Original silvered dial with arabic numbers and luminous blued steel hands. Dial signed Universal Geneve, Aero-Compax and Swiss below 6:00. Register at 3:00 counts to 30 minutes, 6:00 Register Counts to 12 Hours. 9:00 register shows constant seconds. C/ Original Stainles steel snap back case fully signed and hallmarked Universal Geneve, Swiss. Original Flat pushers. Top pusher starts and stops the Chronograph, while bottom button resets Chronograph counters crisply to zero. Left crown controls the Hour and Minute hands of the register at 12:00, which allows the wearer to set a "Memento" time. M/ High Grade, Swiss Made, 17 Jewels manual winding Universal Geneve chronograph movement signed Universal Geneve Swiss. Base Caliber 287.
