Beautiful Vintage LEONIDAS Triple Date Moonphase Venus 200 Chronograph
with vintage charm.
Leonidas Watch Co was founded in
1841 in St. Imier by Julien Bourquin.
After the turn of the century, government departments of various countries
were included among the Leonidas company's clients. The special pieces
produced in its own workshops found their application in Germany, England,
France, Italy, Japan and in the United States. In addition to
instrument-panel clocks for cars and aircraft, production included
stop-watches and chronographs for wrist and pocket, as well as timepieces
with extra functions like this one, with tripledate moonphases.
In 1964, a merger contract was
signed with one of its competitors, the Heuer company. The new company,
called Heuer-Leonidas S.A., specialized in stop-watches, chronographs and
complicated watches, naturally....... |

A Beautiful Vintage Triple Date Moonphase with Venus
Caliber 200 Chronograph movement , which is also chosen by
BREITLING for
its equivalent version of vintage chronographs.
D:
100% original aged dial (signed LUCERNE 17 JEWELS SWISS) with NICE VINTAGE PATINA
with light aging spots that adds a lot of characters
to the watch.
DAY and MONTH (in ENGLISH) apertures just below 12:00 position. Outer
circulating track for DATE indicated by a RED pointer circulating hand,
a color used to help date telling easier.
There are 6 original hands altogether on this complicated vintage
timepiece. The register at 3:00 is the 30min register, the one at 9:00
for the subsidiary seconds hand and the register at 6:00 shows the
moonphases.

Good condition case with Snap back. Inner case back is duly signed “LEONIDAS WATCH
FY ”
with watch reference number 802108. Outer case back is signed “STAINLESS
STEEL BACK BASE METAL”. Flat Pushers Control the Chronograph. Top
Pusher Starts and Stops the Chronograph and Bottom Pusher Resets
Counters to Zero. Pushers on left of case manually advances the tripledate Functions.
Large Case measures 35mm excluding crown, 37mm including and 42mm from
lug to lug.

Watch keeps very good time and all functions and quick set advance
button work perfectly. Flat pushers start, stop and reset properly

Fitted with a Brand new 100% unused high grade strap and
presented in our inhouse rectangular watch box for your collection. Don't
know about you, but my mood just get better when I look at this
Moonphase with a smiling face.
It does not just tell you the time, the date, the day, the month of the
day it also shows the moonphases, and it is a chronograph !!!!!! The
functions of which are highly sought after by collectors and therefore
expensively reproduced by high end watches selling at astronomical
prices…..
This is probably why, I have always like, rather LOVE the vintage
Tripledate Moonphases with chronograph, esthetically fulfilling and
functionally complicated and complete. |
